To take part in the FILMING | ANIMATE MARATHON is to join an unexpected film team and produce a film for the big screen. Fiction, animation, documentary, in films with no time limit and produced by teams of all nationalities.

For five days, films are prepared and made.
FILMMAKERS from all over the world shoot and produce films in the streets, in the fields and with the people of Avanca.
Other FILMMAKERS sit down and animate images of all sizes and techniques, with and without AI, in an ANIMATED animated cinema.

FREEDOM, FREEDOM
a starting point for projecting ideas, gathering, filming, animating - always CINEMA.

SPACES, EQUIPMENT, COLLEAGUES
At the festival and in Avanca, you can film or sit and animate.
You bring your own equipment (laptop, camera...), or you use the Festival's equipment.
You support your fellow filmmakers with what you know and they support you with what they know for your film.
The filmmaker tutors help you to organize a work plan and are a unique and indispensable support for getting away from the “blank paper”.

MEANWHILE, A FILM IN THE WORKS
Joaquim Pavão is going to shoot a short film at AVANCA 2024.
It will be filmed between Avanca and Aveiro.
It will be one, yours will be another.

Award-winning Portuguese filmmakers are the teams' tutors, supporting each of the films in production with their expertise.
