In the year that Valletta is not only the capital of Malta, but also and during the year 2018, European Capital of Culture, the AVANCA International Film Festival exhibits in its 22nd edition one of the most emblematic audiovisual projects produced in Malta, about the current situation of this country.

At a time when several Portuguese cities are looking to be the fourth Portuguese city to host this European Capitals of Culture project in 2027, these films that stimulate a reflection on politics and society in the creative audiovisual space, seem to be more pertinent.

Angelica Muller, filmmaker and programmer at the Valletta Film Festival, will be at AVANCA presenting the films and the project that was the basis of them.

This anthology, produced by the Film Grain Foundation in collaboration with the Arts Council of Malta and the MAlta EU presidency, entitled "Ewropej", reflects the values of a European identity and was premiered at the festival that marks the life of the film culture of Malta, the Valletta Film Festival.
