During five days,, FILMMAKERS from all over the world will shoot and produce a movie on the streets, in the fields and with the people of Avanca. A battle of creativity, filmic experimentation, explosive narrative, technical accuracy.
Fiction, animation, documentary, in movies without time limit and produced by teams of all nationalities.

WORKSHOP 1 – IA, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
STORYBOARD WITH IA
STORYBOARD WITH IA
A workshop of intense practical work breaking the storyboard applied to fiction and animation films, with the unconditional support of AI - Artificial Intelligence.
A space to work with those who do it every day as software development specialists and film producers.

TUTORS
Oleksii Tahanchin (Ukraine, Estonia)
CEO of Hound Studio and founder of KROCKIO - creative collaboration and video review software that helps create video production pipeline, media production delivery process and storyboards with AI.
Yulia Hobrii (Ukraine)
Illustrator, storyboard and character artist, and occasional script writer, working on image-by-image animation design at Hound Studio. She expresses ideas through images and animation, creates story-based compositions and characters, and makes brand-based stylistic choices.

TUTOR
Jorge Z. López (Mexico)
Director of Photography, he is one of the founding members of the "Asociación Mexicana de Cinefotógrafos".
He is an integrator of 360º video in films and in experimental projects.
Between Mexico and the US, he has worked on films such as TOTAL RECALL by Paul Verhoeven; TITANIC by James Cameron; PRINCIPIO Y FIN by Arturo Ripstein; ANGEL DE FUEGO by Dana Rotberg; HEART OF DARKNESS by Nicolas Roeg and BARROCO by Paul Leduc.
Having worked on most of Jaime Humberto Hermosillo's filmography, he usually works for the BBC, Discovery Channel, History Channel, IMCINE, NDR , TVE, SPR, Canal 22, Canal 11 among others.
He has taught in several Mexican universities.
Participation of
Antonio Del Rivero (Mexico)
Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, he is a researcher in the space of transdisciplinarity, crossing anthropology through culture, art and technology.
Director of experimental and multi-supportive works, he was nominated for the Ariel Awards with "Apariencia 1, 2, 3" and his film "Rapsodia: Laberintos del yo" has already been shown in Portugal.
His works have been mainly exhibited in museums and art galleries.

We cannot forget. The narrative constructions of the documentary allow us to rescue memories and testimonies of people who link us to a past that we make present.
Evoking the past builds identities and makes it possible to access and rescue moments that have been woven throughout the years.
The workshop proposes to work with Manuel Matos Barbosa and Manuel Paula Dias, directors of the so-called "O Grupo de Aveiro", who marked an independent cinema of the last century. Conversations that bring the path of filmmakers whose memories and memories contain the meaning of cinema in Portugal.

Alfonso Palazon (Spain)
Alfonso Palazon is a documentary filmmaker and university professor.
At the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid he teaches audiovisual communication and documentary filmmaking.
With the production company "Pasajes Invisibles" he has continuously directed and produced relevant and distinguished films. Having been awarded the Aurelio Paz dos Reis Prize, his latest documentary feature "José Luis Espinosa, the spy" had its premiere at last year's AVANCA and is being shown and awarded at multiple festivals.

FROM IDEA TO FILM
Starting from a practical case, work all the stages of a film: idea, script writing, financing, preparation, shooting, post-production and its diffusion.
"Toutes les Nuits" by Latifa SAID, which won the AVANCA 2022 awards for best short film and screenplay, will be the starting point for all the practical work to be developed in the workshop, namely the writing of a sequence that could be part of the film.

Latifa Said (France)
Writer and director, her last film "Toutes les Nuits" was awarded at AVANCA 2022.
Several other previous films have also had their screenings at Avanca, namely "Jours intranquilles", "Tahiti" and "Terrain Vague".
With roots in Algeria, her films often bridge the gap between this country and France where she lives. Distinguished with several dozen awards, her filmic work is well recognized, especially on the Francophone short film circuit.
Latifa is preparing her first feature film "Plus Longue Sera la Nuit", a project that has just been financed and will be shot in Algeria.
João Antunes (Portugal)
Film critic and producer, he works at the Cinemateca Portuguesa since 1983. Jury of AVANCA in 2007, he is a regular member of juries, invited by festivals in several continents.
Having been a professor of Cinema History at Universidade Moderna, he has been a programmer and curator of exhibitions of Portuguese cinema in international events, a lecturer, directed film magazines, written several books in the field, collaborates regularly with film publications from all over the world and is a contributor to encyclopedias.
He writes regularly about cinema for daily newspapers and specialty magazines. He is a member of FIPRESCI, the international federation of film critics.
He has been a producer of Latifa Said's work.

FILMING “DENTRE”
A concert film, which at every moment renews itself, is the challenge to film during AVANCA 2023.
Because the "liar uses valid designations, words, to make the unreal seem real", filming here will be crossing borders.

TUTOR
Joaquim Pavão (Portugal)
Guitarist, composer and filmmaker.
As a performer he has played in Portugal, Australia, Bulgaria and Spain.
He has composed for concert, theater and several films.
As a director he is the author of several short films, having filmed in AVANCA works such as "Antes que a noite vem - Falas de Antígona" (2017) and the feature film "Sonhos".
He has received dozens of awards around the world and his concert film "Dentre" has been touring Portuguese theaters.
